Integrales Kapazitätsmanagement
The Central Temporary Personnel (ZTP) provides temporary nursing staff to bridge short-term bottlenecks and optimizes nursing staff resources across the hospital.
Bed management
As an organizational unit of Integral Capacity Management, Bed Management is responsible for planning, controlling and coordinating economic, patient- and resource-oriented bed occupancy at the University Hospital Basel.
Bed Management is the service provider and central point of contact for all internal and external customers in the coordination and management of emergency and elective admissions.
Our aim is to provide the best possible patient care through optimal use and utilization of the beds we operate.
Case management
Case management as a component of integral capacity management designs, structures and coordinates support and counseling processes for patients in accordance with the case management method. This is always done with the aim of ensuring post-inpatient, seamless and tailored continuity of care.
Case management therefore provides patients, relatives and treatment teams with expert advice on the available care and support services. It also coordinates and organizes post-inpatient, inpatient or outpatient follow-up treatment for the period after hospitalization.
Social counseling
Social, legal or professional problems are often related to an illness, which is why social counseling is an integral part of integral capacity management.
The social counseling staff are trained social workers with several years of professional experience. Like all other hospital employees, they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
The social counseling service is available in the context of treatment and extends to both outpatients and inpatients, as well as their relatives.

- Psychosocial counseling
- Social law counseling
- Advice and precautions in the event of a need for protection
- Aftercare organization

House night watch
The in-house night watch team within the Integral Capacity Management supports all bed-managing inpatient departments across all departments in night duty.
This is done by ensuring an overview of the overall situation in all departments with regard to exceptional work, patient and staff situations during night duty.
The core competence of this professional group is to support, advise and accompany the nursing teams in challenging nursing situations in order to ensure the nursing process in accordance with the quality standards of the University Hospital Basel, taking into account the professional care and support of patients.
The team thus provides support and relief and helps to ensure that the available resources are used appropriately and that the night shift runs smoothly.
