Specialist Center for Oral Surgery and Emergency Dentistry of the Armed Forces Competence Center for Military and Disaster Medicine
The Competence Center for Military and Disaster Medicine (Komp Zen MKM) has commissioned us to operate the Specialist Center for Oral Surgery and Emergency Dentistry at the University Hospital Basel and the Medical Faculty of the University of Basel. The Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery thus provides the specialist knowledge for the basic, further and advanced training of military doctors, dentists and other healthcare professionals.
Our service mandate includes
Training:
- Specialist support at the military medical school (Mil Az OS)
- Specialist training in oral surgery
- Practical service and specialized training in oral surgery
- Training in virtual surgical planning and 3D printing
Further and advanced training:
- Specialist service courses for military doctors and dentists
Research:
- Supervision of master's theses and dissertations for members of the armed forces
- Research projects related to military and disaster medicine

After officer school, the Komp Zen MKM enables dentists to complete their practical service (12 weeks) and special specialist training in oral surgery (12 weeks) at the University Hospital Basel.
The members of the armed forces are under military command and are integrated into our Clinic for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Basel for their training. The training covers all areas of oral surgery and emergency dentistry with a focus on traumatology.
To plan your practical service, please contact the Hospital School 41 command(spits41.lvblog@vtg.admin.ch). They will plan and coordinate the assignments in consultation with Colonel Benito Benitez.
