Sustainability report
The USB has recognized sustainability as a central field of action and defined it as a strategic goal at the highest management level by the Board of Directors and hospital management.

Since 2011, sustainability in radiology has no longer been an abstract concept for our specialists, but a measurable goal in kilowatt hours (kWh).

The shortage of nursing staff is triggering change in the hospital sector. In 2022, the University Hospital also developed various concrete measures to address this.

In 2022, the University Hospital Basel drew up a greenhouse gas balance for the first time. Thanks to this, the USB can now take measures to further reduce its emissions in a targeted manner.

Whether it's flexible working time models in nursing, targeted support for female doctors or the establishment of a new specialist unit for occupational health management - the USB is committed.

An exhibition on the use of LED lamps and special menus in the canteen: the Sustainability Action Week inspires sustainable action in everyday life at the USB.

Sustainability is not just a strategic goal at the USB - many employees have long been concerned about the issue.
