The day-to-day work of radiology specialists HF is characterized by state-of-the-art technology and close contact with patients. As a radiology specialist, you make the invisible visible in people.

One thing is clear: a great understanding of technology is just as important in this profession as empathy for patients. You are also confronted with accidents and emergency situations in your day-to-day work. This requires you to act quickly and carefully, as well as a great deal of medical expertise.
To ensure that you are always up to date professionally, you should be motivated to continue your training after your apprenticeship.

First things first: training to become a qualified radiology specialist takes 3 years. In your training, theory and practice are closely linked right from the start. In the first year, however, theory predominates: you will learn the necessary medical and technical principles. This is followed by practice: You will apply your theoretical knowledge in the fields of diagnostic radiology, radio-oncology and nuclear medicine during regular internships throughout your training.

The second year of practical training focuses on the largest specialist area: diagnostic and interventional radiology.
In the third year of training, you will again work in all three specialties. During the 3-year training period, you will attend a weekly Training & Transfer course in the practice, which combines theory and practice.

The University Hospital Basel enables you to gain an insight into other hospitals and institutes during your training period: For example, we cooperate with Bethesdaspital, Spital Oberengadin in Samedan, St. Claraspital Basel and other hospitals in the region.
