Social work in the healthcare sector promotes the social participation and protection of people with or at risk of health problems or disabilities and their relatives in their living environment. The social services at the University Hospital Basel offer four basic services: Psychosocial counselling for patients and the patient system, aftercare organization as part of discharge planning, clarification, notification and application for legal measures in endangered situations, and social law advice and support.

For students studying for a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, full-time or part-time internships are available at the University Hospital Basel for the practical modules.

To apply for an internship in our social services department, you must be enrolled at the FHNW/HSA. Due to the special tasks in our hospital, we prefer applications for the second internship module in the Social Work degree program.

After successfully completing your studies, you can apply for possible vacancies in our social services.
