Job description
Laboratory technicians specializing in biology and biomedical analysts HF form an agile team in diagnostics.
Your activities are:
- Carrying out and assessing medical, pharmaceutical, chemical or biological laboratory work
- Routine analyses of various methods and procedures.
- Professional and timely processing and execution of technical laboratory tasks
- Organizational and administrative activities according to quality guidelines and in accordance with competence regulations and instructions
Training process
During your 3-year training at the USB, you will work in the various specialist areas (biopsy, cytology, molecular biology and genetics) of the laboratory. You will gain an insight into clinical diagnostic methods such as FISH, PCR and microsurgery.
You will be closely supervised by vocational trainers in your day-to-day work and guided to your apprenticeship qualification. You will attend vocational school and inter-company courses at aprentas in Muttenz.

- Completed compulsory schooling with high standards
- Enthusiasm for science and mathematics
- Good imagination, powers of observation and ability to think in a networked way
- Clean and precise work
- Perseverance and patience
- Team-oriented
- Interest in working with electronic devices and complex equipment
- Practical skills - two left hands are out of place here

Vocational baccalaureate
The vocational baccalaureate complements your basic vocational training with an extended general education. It gives you access to a university of applied sciences FH.
