Information on the dual study program
Study program
As a partner of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW), we offer two exciting dual study programs at the University Hospital Basel:
- Business Administration-Healthcare Management
- Business Informatics - Application Management
You can gain practical experience on the Business Administration-Healthcare Management course either in Radiology and Nuclear Medicine or in Finance and Revenue Management.
In Business Informatics (Application Management), you can gain practical experience in either Digitalization & ICT or Data to Business.
Business Administration-Health Management
Radiology and nuclear medicine
On the Business Administration-Healthcare Management course, you will gain an insight into the business processes of radiology and nuclear medicine, work in various specialist disciplines and combine theory with practice. You will also support projects and work independently on a variety of tasks in the hospital environment.
Financial and revenue management
This study place will be offered in 2026.
Business Informatics - Application Management
Digitalization & ICT
In the Digitalization & ICT department, you will work on company-wide projects, analyse and optimize processes and support the maintenance and further development of clinical and administrative systems. You will also support the introduction of new software solutions and drive digitalization throughout the hospital environment.
Data to Business
On this course, you will develop data-based tools for specialist departments and decision-makers, analyze performance and financial data to support decision-making and independently implement smaller projects. You will build up expertise in SAP HANA and QlikSense and develop customer-oriented solutions using modern web technologies.
Field of activity
Business Administration-Health Management
Radiology and nuclear medicine:
- Work in daily business to get to know how a medical clinic works, particularly from a business management perspective
- Work in other, different specialist disciplines within the hospital, tailored to the course content
- Combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience
- Support and independent development of projects from different areas
Finance and revenue management:

Business informatics
Digitalization & ICT:
- Collaboration on company-wide projects
- Process analyses and optimizations
- Support for a complex application landscape
- Further development of clinical and administrative systems
- Evaluation and introduction of new software solutions
- Advancing digitalization in the entire hospital environment
Data to business area:
- Contributing to the development of data-based tools for specialist departments and decision-makers.
- Analyzing data from service recording and financial processes to support decision-making.
- Independent implementation of small projects from requirements analysis to rollout.
- Building up expertise in SAP HANA and QlikSense.
- Development of customer-oriented solutions with modern web technologies.
Prerequisites
- You meet the DHBW requirements for a dual study program
- You enjoy working in a team, but can also take on tasks independently
- You have a structured way of working and have problem-solving skills
- You have an interest in business processes in the healthcare sector
- You have initiative and a willingness to learn
- Good knowledge of the common Office programs
- You have an open-minded and positive personality
