Job description
Midwives care for, accompany and advise women and their families during pregnancy, birth and up to the child's first year of life. Midwives can work in various professional settings: in hospitals, birth centers, practices or as freelance midwives.
Your duties as a midwife include working in professional partnership with women and families as well as providing the necessary support, care and advice. Your skills include preventative measures and the promotion of normal pregnancy, birth, postnatal and breastfeeding periods.
You are responsible for managing the maternity process and consult other specialists in the event of complications. Interprofessional collaboration is an important part of your work, as this ensures the safety of the woman, child and family.
Training process
For students of the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery at the Bern University of Applied Sciences Health, internships are available at the University Hospital Basel for the practical modules including the additional module B.
As a student, you will complete part of your practical training in the various fields of midwifery here.

You must be enrolled at Bern University of Applied Sciences.
