Your workplace as a prospective orthoptist is in the Eye Clinic of the University Hospital. 60% of the training takes place at the university hospital and 40% at the vocational school. The only vocational school for orthoptists in German-speaking Switzerland is the ZAG (Zentrum für Ausbildungen im Gesundheitswesen) in Winterthur. The training alternates between theoretical and practical blocks lasting several weeks. The training is only offered every two years - in September (week 38) - and lasts 3 years.
